How to stop kidnappings overnight – Rita Edochie to Nigerians

Nollywood actress Rita Edochie has urged traditional rulers and community leaders across Nigeria to take immediate action to protect their people from terrorists and kidnappers terrorizing local communities.
The actress made the call in a passionate Instagram post on Wednesday, where she also shared a photo of Nnamdi Kanu, the detained leader of the Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB), who is currently serving a life sentence after a terrorism conviction.
In her post, Rita argued that Kanu had repeatedly warned Nigerians about the rising threat of terrorists across the country, but his warnings were dismissed.
According to her, the time has come for communities to defend themselves instead of waiting for government intervention.
She urged traditional rulers (ndi igwe) and community leaders to identify strong, capable young men in their areas and equip them to reclaim forests and farmlands from armed criminals.
“Let every community properly arm their youths… ask them to get into their bushes and forests and see these kidnappings stop overnight,” she wrote.
Rita noted that terrorists are emboldened because they are heavily armed, adding that corrupt officials previously provided them protection.
She insisted that youths know the terrain better than foreign attackers and can successfully defend their people, but only if leaders stop compromising.
“If you don’t start this now, it’s coming to your doorsteps,” she warned
