Chelsea manager, Enzo Maresca, has admitted that his team performed poorly in their 3-1 loss to Leeds on Wednesday night and did not deserve to win.
Leeds went into halftime two goals ahead, with strikes from Jaka Bijol and Ao Tanaka. After the break, Pedro Neto scored to give Chelsea hope, but Dominic Calvert-Lewin later punished a defensive mistake to secure the win for Leeds.
The defeat leaves Chelsea nine points behind current league leaders, Arsenal.
Speaking after the game, Maresca told BBC Match of the Day:
“It was a very poor night. They deserved to win because they were better in every aspect.
“We will analyse this game, learn from it, and focus on the next match.
“After our goal, we had one or two big chances, but their third goal ended the game, and from that point it became much harder for us.”
