The Delta State Police Command has warned residents of the state against the use of fireworks during the Yuletide season. Olufemi Abaniwonda, Commissioner of Police in the state, reminded residents of the ban places on such items, emphasising the need to adhere to the warning.
The Police command in a statement released on Thursday, also advised parents to caution their children against purchasing and using such items.
“The use, sale, and display of pyrotechnics, including fireworks and firecrackers known as ‘knockouts’ and ‘bangers’. Parents and guardians are advised to caution their children and wards to desist from using these items. Retailers are equally warned to withdraw from the sale of these products, as anyone found wanting will be arrested and prosecuted, and their goods impounded,” the statement read.
The CP also urged residents to report anyone found in disobeying the order.
