Shamsudeen Hassan Basko and Nura Dahiru, two members representing Talata-Mafara North and Birnin-Magaji Constituencies respectively in the Zamfara State House of Assembly have resigned from the All Progressives Congress (APC).

The two lawmakers in their separate letter claimed that they are dumping APC because of internal crises and leadership challenges within the party.

The Zamfara lawmakers’ separate letters of resignation from APC dated December 3 were read on the during plenary on Thursday by the Speaker, Bilyaminu Moriki.

In his own letter, Hassan said he is quitting the party as a result of persistent crises, internal divisions and poor leadership, according to Channels Television.

He also claimed that members of the party at the state and local government levels have been sidelined.

Hassan therefore said continuing as a member of APC no longer aligned with his personal and political convictions or the interests of his constituents.

On his part, Dahiru said leaving the APC would give him the opportunity to pursue causes that better represent the aspirations of the people he serves.

The lawmakers ,however, expressed gratitude for the opportunities they had within the APC, but they requested that their letters should be treated as formal exit notifications from the party.

Dahiru announced his defection to the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in Zamfara State.
