Michael Jordan is set to testify on Friday in the ongoing federal antitrust lawsuit he filed against NASCAR. The NBA legend claims the racing series has acted as a monopoly, unfairly disadvantaging certain teams.

Jordan co-owns NASCAR team 23XI with racing star Denny Hamlin. The lawsuit also involves Front Row Motorsports, which argue that NASCAR’s revenue-sharing model is unfair to teams that often operate at a loss. NASCAR denies any wrongdoing, insisting its practices do not violate antitrust laws.

The trial began on Monday in Charlotte, North Carolina, with Jordan expressing surprise that the dispute had reached a courtroom. On Friday, he is expected to take the stand and present his case.

Heather Gibbs, chief operating officer of Joe Gibbs Racing, is also expected to testify on Friday. Jordan has been allowed to stay in the courtroom for the entire trial, despite being a witness. NASCAR had previously requested his exclusion before he was designated as 23XI’s corporate representative.

Two potential jurors were recently dismissed because of their fandom for Jordan, with reports noting they seemed excited just to be near the basketball star. The trial opened with Denny Hamlin giving evidence.
