Popular Nigerian singer, Harrison Tare Okiri, widely known as Harrysong, has called on President Bola Tinubu to tackle the nation’s worsening insecurity by increasing the salaries and allowances of security personnel across the country.

In a passionate message shared via his Instagram page, the Reggae Blues crooner expressed deep concern over the poor welfare of personnel in the Army, Navy, Air Force, Police and other security agencies, describing their current earnings as “too small” and “shameful.”

Harrysong argued that those who put their lives on the line daily to protect Nigeria deserve far better compensation and motivation.

He wrote:

“TO MR PRESIDENT. IF YOU REALLY, TRULY WANNA END INSECURITY IN NIGERIA, start by increasing the salary and allowances of the armed forces… the salary of the army, the navy, air force, the Nigerian police force, is too small, too shameful. Increase their salary. This job should be worth dying for.”

He urged the Federal Government to prioritize welfare reforms as part of the overall strategy to boost national security, insisting that better pay would empower and inspire personnel to fight crime more effectively.
