Kogi State Governor, Alhaji Ahmed Usman Ododo, has announced that his government has hired 1,050 hunters and officially absorbed vigilante officers into the civil service to help improve security across the state.

He explained that his government has achieved major progress in its first two years, focusing on improving the economy, building infrastructure, and supporting the welfare of citizens.

The governor made this known in Lokoja during a three-day training programme aimed at promoting development in line with Kogi State’s 32-year development plan.

Represented by the Commissioner for Finance, Budget and Economic Planning, Mukadam Asiru Asiwaju, Ododo said one key success is reviving the Confluence Rice Mill.

This project has supported more than 7,000 rice farmers and created jobs through grants and soft loans provided by the government.

He also said the state is working to complete over 500 kilometres of roads, install solar-powered streetlights, and fix damaged water systems in different communities.

The government has also expanded access to free healthcare, increased educational support, and launched empowerment programmes for women and young people.

Governor Ododo noted that all ongoing and future projects must follow the state’s long-term 32-year development plan so that progress is sustained.

He encouraged those attending the training to use what they have learned to support Kogi State’s goal of achieving greater development by the year 2056.
