The chairman of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Taraba State, Ibrahim Tukur, has confirmed that Governor Agbu Kefas will officially join the APC in January 2026.

The chairman of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Taraba State, Ibrahim Tukur, has confirmed that Governor Agbu Kefas will officially join the APC in January 2026.

Governor Kefas was earlier scheduled to defect to the party on November 19 but postponed the event because of the kidnapping of students in Kebbi State.

Speaking at a press conference in Jalingo, the state capital, the APC chairman said the party has suspended some ward officials for breaking party rules.

He also advised members who are not happy with the party to settle their disagreements through the party’s internal processes before going to court.

He announced that the suspension placed on Abel Peter, a member of the Taraba State House of Assembly, has been lifted. Peter was earlier suspended by his ward for allegedly working against the party.

The chairman also responded to comments made by former Vice President Atiku Abubakar, who claimed he would take over Taraba State. Tukur said Atiku’s claim is unrealistic, insisting that the APC is already in control of the state and does not plan to lose that position.
