Mohamed Salah has been dropped from Liverpool’s squad for their Champions League match against Inter Milan following his explosive weekend interview.
The forward accused the club of “throwing me under the bus” after being left on the bench during Saturday’s 3–3 draw with Leeds United. He also claimed his relationship with manager Arne Slot had broken down.
Club sources told BBC Sport that the decision to leave him out was taken with Slot’s full support. They say Salah’s remarks made it best for all sides that he steps away from selection briefly.
Liverpool are not taking any formal disciplinary action.
Salah, 33, is due to leave for the Africa Cup of Nations next Monday and is also expected to miss Saturday’s Premier League game against Brighton.
Liverpool’s 19-man squad will fly to Milan on Monday afternoon. Slot will address the media later today alongside goalkeeper Alisson Becker.
Salah’s interview came after he was left unused against Leeds — his third straight game starting on the bench.
