Nigerian content creator Hauwa Lawal has spoken on the importance of reshaping the African perception on a global level, with storytelling.
The media personality, while speaking at NECLive 2025 panel, emphasised the importance of storytelling and how it can serve as the tool to reshape the African economy.
Hauwa also spoke about how harmful and backwards stereotypes about Africa affects Africans internationally and globally, stressing that such narratives can be rewritten by storytelling.
“Our economy can only be exported to the world if we’re able to tell our own stories. When I tell the story of a young Nigerian girl living in Nigeria, what I have to face every day, people see themselves in my stories. “Creativity is very fluid. You can go in and out of things. I don’t like to be boxed in,” she stated.
