President Bola Tinubu has congratulated the President of the Senate, Godswill Akpabio, on his 63rd birthday, describing him as a patriot whose public service record reflects unwavering commitment to Nigeria’s progress.

In a goodwill message issued on Tuesday, President Tinubu celebrated Akpabio’s decades-long contribution to national development and his rise through various leadership roles at state and federal levels.

The President lauded Akpabio’s legacy as governor of Akwa Ibom State, recalling the significant infrastructural transformation he championed during his tenure.

Tinubu noted that the state under Akpabio became “a top competitor in the national economy,” pointing to the construction of one of Nigeria’s most iconic stadiums as an enduring symbol of his administration’s impact.

Following his governorship, Akpabio transitioned to the National Assembly before serving as Minister of Niger Delta Affairs, where the President said he prioritised the development of the oil-rich region.

Tinubu also praised the Senate President’s role in strengthening cooperation between the executive and legislature, crediting him with promoting peace, security, and developmental initiatives through constructive engagement.

“As co-labourers in the service of our nation, I have always admired his strength of character and ability to remain undaunted even in the face of challenges,” President Tinubu stated, saluting Akpabio’s “unwavering belief in Nigeria and commitment to its progress.”

The President joined Akpabio’s family, colleagues, and associates in marking the milestone, praying for “many years of good health, strength, and continuous leadership impact.”
