Jason Derulo Jason American singer Jason Derulo has opened up about the s*xual harassment lawsuit that has trailed his career for nearly two years, revealing the drastic personal rule he now lives by as a result of the controversy.
Speaking during an interview with Graham Bensinger, the award-winning artist said the ongoing legal battle, filed by singer Emaza Dilan and twice dismissed in California and Nevada, has continued to damage his reputation, cost him major brand deals, and affect his career opportunities. The case has recently been refiled in New York, reigniting public attention.
Derulo revealed that the experience has forced him to change how he interacts in professional spaces:
“Never work with women. I will never be alone in a room with a woman that I work with… ever, ever again.”
The singer expressed frustration that despite the lawsuit being dismissed twice, the narrative around the allegations continues to haunt him:
“That case was dismissed twice. And I lost so many brand deals, relationships off of a story that was not even slightly believable. Why didn’t they post the dismissal at least? Wouldn’t that be fair?”
Derulo also addressed one of the more outrageous accusations — a claim that he was involved in a bizarre ritual involving “sacrificing a goat in a s3xual ritual” — dismissing it as completely fabricated.
As the case proceeds in New York, Derulo says speaking publicly about it is risky, but staying silent hasn’t helped either:
“It seems like there’s no winning.”
