In a statement on Tuesday, the Director of Public Relations and Information, Air Commodore Ehimen Ejodame, said the aircraft was on a ferry mission to Portugal when the crew noticed a technical issue shortly after taking off from Lagos on December 8, 2025.

Ejodame added that arrangements are already in place for the aircraft to continue its mission once the issue is resolved.
“The Nigerian Air Force remains committed to strict operational and safety standards, and to protecting its personnel while carrying out its constitutional duties,” the statement said
