I’m not leaving PDP, but anything can still happen – Bala Mohammed
Bauchi State Governor, Bala Mohammed, has shut down rumours that he is planning to dump the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) for the Peoples Redemption Party (PRP).
The rumour started after the PRP Publicity Secretary in Bauchi claimed the governor was secretly trying to join their party to escape the crisis in the PDP.
But in a quick response on Wednesday, Governor Mohammed, through his Special Adviser on Media, Muhktar Gidado, said the reports were baseless.
He said the governor has actually been one of the strongest voices trying to fix the PDP and save it from those “trying to turn Nigeria into a one-party state.”
The statement added that the PRP had “shown its true colours” with the false claim, warning Bauchi residents that “all that glitters is not gold.”
Gidado insisted that nothing will stop Governor Mohammed from focusing on developing Bauchi State.
However, the governor also noted that he still has the constitutional right to defect if he ever chooses to.
He said he can decide his political future at any time, but such a decision will never be forced by “political turncoats who survive on lies and mischief.”
