Judge grants release of Epstein 2019 grand jury records
A federal juge in New York has ruled that the US Department of Justice can release grand jury records from Jeffrey Epstein’s 2019 sex-trafficking case.
US District Judge Richard Berman reversed his earlier decision to keep the documents sealed. He said a new law passed by Congress now requires the Justice Department to make the Epstein files public by the end of next week.
Epstein was charged with sex trafficking in July 2019. He died in his New York jail cell a month later while waiting for trial.
The decision comes just one day after another judge approved the release of similar grand jury materials in the case of Ghislaine Maxwell, who was convicted in 2021 for helping Epstein abuse underage girls.
