NIS disowns viral recruitment post, warn Nigerians to beware
The Nigeria Immigration Service (NIS) has warned Nigerians to stay away from a fake Facebook post claiming that the Service is currently recruiting.
The warning comes as fake job adverts continue to spread across social media, often used to trick people into giving out personal details or paying scammers.
In a statement posted on its official X handle on Wednesday, the NIS said it is not recruiting at the moment. It added that the only legitimate hiring process is the one recently carried out by the Civil Defence, Corrections, Fire and Immigration Board (CDCFIB), and the results are still pending.
“The public is advised to ignore such posts, avoid engaging with them, and report the pages immediately,” the statement read. The Service also restated its commitment to transparency in all genuine recruitment exercises.
The NIS is the federal agency in charge of immigration duties such as border control, visa issuance and enforcing immigration laws. The agency carries out recruitment from time to time, but says any announcement will always come from official channels only.
