The PSC said the recruitment is part of the President’s plan to strengthen community policing, improve security and increase the manpower of the police.
On November 26, 2025, President Tinubu declared a nationwide security emergency and ordered the police and armed forces to recruit more personnel to tackle rising insecurity across the country.
In a statement on Thursday, the PSC’s Head of Protocol and Public Affairs, Torty Kalu, announced that the recruitment portal will open from December 15, 2025, to January 25, 2026, for eligible Nigerians.
According to the PSC, applicants for the General Duty position must have GCE O’Level, SSCE/NECO or equivalent results with at least five credits, including English and Mathematics, in no more than two sittings.
Applicants for the Specialists cadre must have at least four credits, including English and Mathematics, plus three years of experience and relevant trade test certificates.
Kalu added that all applicants must be Nigerian citizens by birth.
Candidates for General Duty must be 18–25 years old, while Specialist applicants must be 18–28 years old. He said male candidates must be at least 1.67m tall, and female candidates must be at least 1.64m tall.
All applications must be submitted online through the recruitment portal.
