Five residents of Magongo community in Ogori/Magongo Local Government Area of Kogi State who were abducted on Monday night have regained their freedom after five days in captivity.

The National President of the Magongo Development Association (MDA), Prince Jordan Akpata, confirmed their release on Friday, saying the victims were freed at about 5 p.m. and have since rejoined their families.

Akpata noted that further details on the circumstances of their rescue would be communicated once available.

He expressed profound gratitude to security agencies and local volunteers whose coordinated efforts, he said, played a crucial role in securing the victims’ safe return.

The abducted residents were taken a few kilometres from Magongo while returning from Jos, Plateau State, where they had attended a wedding ceremony

. Their release brings relief to the community, which had been on edge since the incident.
