Award-winning Nollywood filmmaker and actress Funke Akindele has appealed to her fans and movie lovers to protect her latest film, Behind The Scenes, from piracy by refraining from recording or sharing clips from the cinema.
Akindele made the appeal shortly after the movie, which premiered in cinemas on December 12, began screening nationwide. She warned that recording or posting any part of the film online, even short clips, amounts to piracy and could negatively affect the success of the project.
Emphasising the importance of respecting the hard work that went into the film, the filmmaker urged fans to help spread the message and support the movie the right way.
“Say no to direct and indirect piracy. Hello my beautiful fans. We’re super excited that Behind The Scenes is showing in cinemas, but please let’s say a big no to recording any scenes of Behind The Scenes in the cinema,” she wrote.
According to her, while fans are encouraged to take photos at roll-up banners and share their reviews online, recording scenes inside the cinema remains strictly unacceptable.
“Yes, take pictures at the roll-up banners and share your reviews, but no recording inside the cinema, please. Kindly share this message with family and friends. Let’s support the hard work behind this masterpiece,” she added.
Behind The Scenes explores the realities, pressures, and emotional struggles that often come with success and fame. Akindele revealed that the movie was inspired by a divine message and features a star-studded cast including Tobi Bakre, Iyabo Ojo, Scarlet Gomez, and Ini Dima-Okojie.
