Arsenal winger Bukayo Saka has admitted that the Gunners needed a slice of luck to secure their dramatic victory over Wolverhampton Wanderers, describing the result as one the team will “take and move on from” as the Premier League title race intensifies.

The league leaders edged Wolves 2–1 at the Emirates Stadium in a tense encounter that was decided deep into stoppage time, a result that moved Arsenal five points clear at the top of the table and briefly shifted the pressure onto defending champions Manchester City.

Speaking to TNT Sports after the match, Saka acknowledged that the performance was far from Arsenal’s best but stressed the importance of grinding out results at this stage of the season.

“Yeah, sometimes you need that bit of luck,” Saka said. “Today went our way. We will take the points and move forward.”

Arsenal struggled to impose themselves for long periods and were pushed to the limit by a resilient Wolves side, who looked set to leave north London with a point after drawing level late on.

However, Arsenal benefitted from a late defensive error to snatch all three points, sparking huge celebrations among the home fans.

Reflecting on whether such scrappy victories could prove decisive in the title run-in, Saka remained cautious but optimistic.

“Yeah maybe games like this will get us over the line in May, but we won’t know until May,” he said. “For now, we can be happy that we left with three points despite the performance and the way the game went.”

The England international also revealed that confidence remains high within Mikel Arteta’s squad, with players determined to learn from recent outings and return stronger after a brief pause in fixtures.

“Morale is high,” Saka added. “We’ve got a break now until next week so we can reflect on the past few performances and be ready to go again next week.”

With Arsenal now holding a five-point cushion at the summit, attention turns to Manchester City, who have the opportunity to respond in their next league outing.

Asked about the title race swinging pressure onto City, Saka smiled and replied, “Yeah, you said it well.”

As the season heads into its decisive phase, Arsenal will hope that moments of fortune, combined with resilience, continue to work in their favour as they chase a long-awaited Premier League crown.
