Australia witnessed tragedy on Sunday when Ten people got killed, including children, a police officer, and at least 11 were injured after gunmen opened fire at Syndey’s Bondi Beach.

Police believe it was a targeted attack on a Jewish Hanukkah celebration, News AU reported. Among the injured are two police officers.

Police sources said the attack, which appeared to have been planned for months, targeted a Chanukkah event at Bondi Beach Park near the children’s playground.

One gunman was also killed on the scene, while another was shot and is in custody, receiving treatment from emergency services.

Authorities are continuing to search the area for potential explosives, following an unconfirmed report of a device under a pedestrian bridge.

Video circulating on social media shows a bystander rushing one of the shooters, wrestling a shotgun away and aiming it back at him, while a second gunman continued firing from a bridge. Witnesses reported at least three firearms were in use, with the shooters appearing to wear ammunition belts.

NSW Police and emergency services responded swiftly, deploying 26 units including helicopters, intensive care paramedics, and special operations teams.

Several injured people were treated on site before being transported to hospitals including St Vincent’s, Royal Prince Alfred, and St George.

Prime Minister Anthony Albanese described the scenes as “shocking and distressing” and said his thoughts were with those affected.

He confirmed he had spoken with the AFP Commissioner and the NSW Premier and urged the public to follow official police guidance, India Today reports.
