NAF airstrikes kill terrorists, destroy hideouts
The Nigerian Air Force (NAF) has carried out airstrikes on a known terrorist location at Dabar Masara in the Southern Tumbuns area of Borno State, killing several terrorists and destroying their hideouts.
The operation took place on December 14, 2025, and was carried out by the Air Component of Operation HADIN KAI.
This was disclosed on Monday in a statement by the Director of Public Relations and Information of the Nigerian Air Force, Air Commodore Ehimen Ejodame.
According to Ejodame, intelligence reports had earlier revealed repeated movement of terrorists in the area, as well as several vehicles hidden under thick vegetation. The findings confirmed that the location was being used as a major logistics base by terrorists.
He said surveillance carried out on the day of the operation showed terrorists moving around the area and close to the vehicles.
Following confirmation of the targets, NAF fighter jets carried out precision strikes on the location, in line with the rules of engagement.
Ejodame said a battle damage assessment after the operation confirmed that the vehicles were destroyed and several terrorists were neutralised.
He added that the successful mission showed the Nigerian Air Force’s commitment to intelligence-led air operations aimed at weakening terrorist networks and improving security in affected areas.
The Southern Tumbuns, located around Lake Chad, has remained a stronghold for terrorist groups in the North-East, with the military continuing air and ground operations to disrupt their activities.
