A 91-year-old man, Yekini Olajide, on Wednesday appeared before an Iyaganku Magistrates’ Court in Ibadan over alleged forcible land entry and the destruction of property valued at N5 million.

The defendant was charged alongside his son, Ibrahim Olajide, 34, with conspiracy, forcible entry, malicious damage and threat to life. Both defendants pleaded not guilty to the charges.

The prosecutor, Insp Femi Omilana, told the court that the defendants committed the offences on Sept. 1, at Igbodudu, Lanlate area of Ibadan.

Omilana alleged that the defendants forcibly entered land belonging to Oyelade Oduneye and damaged her signposts, wooden beehives, plantain suckers and cash crops valued at N5 million.

He also alleged that the defendants threatened Oduneye’s life and prevented her from accessing the land.

According to him, the offences contravene Sections 81, 86, 451 and 516 of the Criminal Laws of Oyo State, 2000.

The magistrate, Mrs Adebola Adeola, granted the defendants bail in the sum of N5 million each, with two sureties each in like sum.

She thereafter adjourned the case until Feb. 10, 2026, for hearing.
