The Ibadan Electricity Distribution Company (IBEDC) has confirmed that residents and businesses across its franchise areas, including Oyo, Kwara, Ogun, Osun states, and Ibadan city, are currently experiencing frequent power interruptions and prolonged outages.

In a statement, the company expressed regret for the inconvenience caused to households, businesses, and public institutions affected by the unstable supply.

IBEDC explained that the main reason behind the disruptions is a reduction in electricity load allocation from the national grid, which has limited the amount of power available for distribution across its service areas.

IBEDC assured the public that it is actively engaging with the Transmission Company of Nigeria (TCN) and the Nigeria Independent System Operator (NISO) to find solutions that will improve supply stability.

The company also stated that, for now, the available electricity is being strategically and fairly distributed across various feeders and service zones to ensure operational efficiency and fairness to all customers.

The power company appealed to residents and businesses to remain patient and understanding during this period and promised to provide regular updates as the situation develops.

With Nigeria’s growing population and increasing demand for electricity, IBEDC noted that intermittent supply remains a major challenge, and the company is committed to exploring long-term measures to enhance the reliability of power supply in its franchise areas.
