Nigerian singer David Adedeji Adeleke, popularly known as Davido has spoken on his collaboration with Omah Lay on his hit song ‘with you’.
The Grammy-nominated singer revealed that their collaboration happened after he cleared Omah Lay’s assumption about his sentiments for him.
He disclosed that Omah Lay had assumed that he hated him until he casually announced his admiration for him when livestreaming with Kai Cenat.
“How Omah Lay and I got together was, Kai Cenat came to Nigeria and I was driving him to the club and then Omah Lay’s song comes up, and he was like, ‘Who is this?’ I responded, ‘Oh! This is Omah Lay, he is hot.’ And then the next day, Omah Lay tweeted like, ‘Wow! Davido gave me a shoutout on a livestream, I thought he hated me.’ And I Dmed him, ‘Why would you think I hate you? We’ve never met,” he stated.
Davido added that himself and Omah Lay eventually met and recorded four songs together, one of which was released as a part of his fifth album.
“We eventually, exchanged numbers and we were going back-and-forth with music. We did about four songs and he chose ‘With You’ as the one we would release,” he added.
