A Delta State High Court sitting in Orerokpe has issued an interim injunction restraining the Nigeria Police from resuming the enforcement of the tinted glass permit policy nationwide.
In an ex-parte ruling delivered by Justice Joe Egwu, the court barred the Inspector-General of Police, the Nigeria Police Force and the Delta State Commissioner of Police from implementing the policy or using it as a basis to harass, arrest, detain or extort motorists and members of the public.
The court also ordered the police to stop conducting government transactions through the Parkway Projects Account, a private contractor’s account, pending the hearing of the substantive suit.
The orders followed an application filed by Mr Israel Joe and will remain in force until the case is fully determined. The ruling effectively halts the police plan to resume enforcement of the tinted glass permit policy scheduled for January 2, 2026.
