Olamide, Asake, others make Obama’s 2025 music list
Former United States President Barack Obama has released his much-anticipated 2025 list of favourite songs, sharing the compilation on his official social media channels.
The annual playlist, which highlights songs that shaped his year, features a mix of global pop, hip-hop, alternative music and a strong presence of Afrobeats stars, reinforcing the genre’s growing international appeal.
Among the African acts on the list is Olamide’s hit single “99,” a star-studded collaboration featuring Young Jonn, Asake, Seyi Vibez and Daecolm. The song has enjoyed massive airplay and streaming success across Nigeria and beyond.
Also making the 2025 list is Burna Boy, a regular name on Obama’s playlists, with his global crossover track “TaTaTa,” featuring American rapper Travis Scott. Nigerian-born British singer Obongjayar was equally recognised with his song “Not In Surrender.”
Other international artists on Obama 2025 music list include Kendrick Lamar, Olivia Dean, Lady Gaga, Drake, BLACKPINK, Rosalía and several others across different genres.
Obama, who has made it a tradition to share his favourite music at the end of every year, said the songs reflect tracks that inspired him and stood out during the year.
