Senate confirms new CEOs for NUPRC, NMDPRA

The Nigerian Senate has confirmed Oritsemeyiwa Amanorisewo Eyesan as the Chief Executive Officer of the Nigerian Upstream Petroleum Regulatory Commission (NUPRC) and Engineer Saidu Aliyu Mohammed as the Chief Executive Officer of the Nigerian Midstream and Downstream Petroleum Regulatory Authority (NMDPRA).

The confirmations follow President Bola Tinubu’s nominations and were swiftly processed by the Senate to ensure continuity in regulating the nation’s petroleum sector.

Ms. Eyesan, a petroleum economist with over 30 years of experience at the Nigerian National Petroleum Company Limited (NNPCL) and its subsidiaries, brings extensive expertise in upstream operations.

Engineer Mohammed, a seasoned chemical engineer, has held key leadership positions in refining, gas management, and policy development within the sector.

These appointments come amid recent leadership changes in the regulatory agencies, aimed at strengthening oversight and improving efficiency in Nigeria’s upstream, midstream, and downstream petroleum activities under the Petroleum Industry Act (PIA).

The new CEOs are expected to enhance investor confidence, enforce regulatory standards, and support the growth of domestic refining and gas utilization across the country.
