Real Madrid maintained their title push with a composed 2-0 victory over Sevilla at the Santiago Bernabéu, sealing the points through goals from Jude Bellingham and Kylian Mbappé in a disciplined LaLiga display.
In front of a crowd of over 72,000, Real Madrid gradually imposed themselves on the contest after an initially competitive opening from Sevilla, who showed early intent but struggled to convert promising moments.
The breakthrough arrived in the 38th minute when Bellingham once again underlined his growing influence.
Rising highest in the box, the England international powered a header inside the post from a well-delivered free kick by Rodrygo, giving Madrid a deserved first-half lead.
Sevilla’s task became significantly harder shortly after when they were reduced to 10 men following a second yellow card, shifting momentum firmly in the hosts’ favour.
Madrid responded by tightening control in midfield, recycling possession and limiting Sevilla’s attacking threat.
After the break, Sevilla showed flashes of resistance, forcing Thibaut Courtois into a pair of sharp saves to preserve Madrid’s advantage.
At the other end, Madrid went close on several occasions, striking the woodwork twice as pressure mounted.
The decisive moment came in the 86th minute, when Kylian Mbappé calmly converted a penalty awarded after a foul in the area.
The French forward sent the goalkeeper the wrong way to double Madrid’s lead and effectively end the contest.
Sevilla pushed late for a response but were denied by disciplined defending and another strong intervention from Courtois, while a late VAR review ruled out an additional penalty for Madrid.
