Revealed: How much Drake lost backing Jake Paul against Joshua

Drake stirs controversy, says London rappers reign supreme

Rap superstar Drake lost a staggering £150,000 (N300,000,000) after Jake Paul was beaten by Anthony Joshua in their highly anticipated boxing clash.

Drake had placed the six-figure wager on Paul to pull off a shock win over the former world heavyweight champion, but the gamble backfired after Joshua stopped the YouTuber-turned-boxer in the sixth round in Miami on Friday night.

The Canadian rapper stood to win as much as £1.2 million ($1.64 million) if Paul had defeated Joshua, but instead joined a growing list of fans left disappointed by the outcome.

Paul’s defeat marked only the second loss of his professional fighting career. Drake had earlier boasted about the bet on Instagram, sharing the amount staked with the caption: “Jakeyyyyy boy. Lock tf in.”

The superstition has even been acknowledged by Joshua himself. Before the fight, the former champion joked that he had “banned” Drake from being backstage.

Speaking to ESPN, Joshua said: “I know I shouldn’t. You know about the Drake curse? It’s real.”
