Pastor Segun Solomon of Christ Light Church, Ilorin, has urged religious leaders to promote unity and stop encouraging inter-religious crises across the country.

Solomon made the call on Saturday in Ilorin during an interview with the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN), stressing that clerics should abandon hate narratives.

According to him, many religious leaders fuel rivalry and hatred among followers of different faiths through their teachings and public utterances.

“Christians, Muslims and traditional worshippers should live together in love, without rivalry or hatred,” Solomon said.

He added, “Everyone should see one another as family, but many people have been brainwashed by their leaders.”

Solomon said some pastors and imams focus on spreading hate and enmity, instead of peace and understanding, among their congregations.

“As leaders, we must lead by example by preaching peace, unity and love, not hate,” he said.

He advised religious leaders to encourage tolerance and mutual respect among their members, for national cohesion.
