What Gov Uba Sani told Christians at Kaduna carol

Governor Uba Sani has praised the Christian community in Kaduna State for their role in fostering unity, recalling his childhood memories of celebrating Christmas with Christian friends.

Speaking at the Kaduna Unity Christmas Carol, organised by the Kaduna State Government and the Christian Association of Nigeria (CAN), the governor said that in his younger days, religious labels did not divide people. “When we were young, there was nothing like Muslim or Christian. We all looked forward to Christmas, joining our Christian brothers to look for the houses serving the most rice and meat. We tried to divide ourselves as siblings, you go to this house, you go to that house, so we could have more meat during Christmas,” he said.

Governor Sani noted that over time, such close interfaith interactions have weakened. “Unfortunately today, things are different. By God’s grace, we will bring that back,” he added.

The governor, participating for the third time in the event, stressed that faith is a bridge to unity, healing, and progress. “I am truly delighted and honoured to stand before you to celebrate this sacred moment with the Christian family in our state. On each occasion, I am reminded that faith remains one of the most important bridges to unity, healing, and collective progress in our society. I am here today by conviction and by commitment,” he said.
