Actor Bucci Franklin loses mum
Nollywood actor Bucci Franklin has announced the death of his mother, Joy Odurukwe.
The actor shared the sad news on Instagram on Monday, posting an obituary notice with a short caption that read, “Hey Mama,” alongside a dove emoji.
The ‘To Kill A Monkey‘ star did not disclose the date or cause of her death.
Following the announcement, fans and colleagues in the entertainment industry flooded his comment section with messages of condolence and support.
He began his career in broadcasting as one of the pioneer on-air personalities at Love FM 104.5, Abuja, where he co-hosted the Morning Show and later anchored Abuja on The Move for five years.
Franklin later moved into acting, making early appearances in AY Makun’s 2013 TV series AY’s Crib. He rose to prominence after featuring in Nollywood films such as Rattlesnake: The Ahanna Story, The Wait, and A Weekend to Forget.
In a recent interview, the actor spoke about growing up without a father figure, explaining that although his father was alive, he was absent from his life. He said the absence exposed him to negative influences while growing up.
Franklin also praised his late mother for raising him alone, expressing respect for single mothers, while stressing the importance of positive male role models in the lives of young boys.
