Support Tinubu, Fubara in 2027, APC National Secretary Basiru tells Rivers residents

“We bring the goodwill of the National Working Committee of the All Progressives Congress to the good people of Rivers State,” Basiru said, describing Fubara as “one of the latest sign-ins into the pan-African, pan-Nigerian political party, the APC.”
The National Secretary of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Senator Ajibola Basiru, has urged the people of Rivers State to support President Bola Tinubu and Governor Siminalayi Fubara in the 2027 general elections.
Basiru spoke on Monday in Port Harcourt during the inauguration of the newly completed Permanent Secretaries’ Quarters at Elimgbu, Obio-Akpor Local Government Area, where he praised Fubara’s leadership and project delivery.
“We bring the goodwill of the National Working Committee of the All Progressives Congress to the good people of Rivers State,” Basiru said, describing Fubara as “one of the latest sign-ins into the pan-African, pan-Nigerian political party, the APC.”
His remarks come amid political uncertainty in the state following the rift between Fubara and his predecessor, Nyesom Wike, now Minister of the Federal Capital Territory. Although earlier reports suggested that a peace agreement brokered by Tinubu ruled out a second term for the governor, Basiru’s comments appeared to signal renewed backing.
“As long as Governor Fubara is in the APC, the South-South geopolitical zone has become the first zone to have all APC governors,” he said, attributing the development to Tinubu, whom he described as “a detribalised Nigerian who places national interest above sentiment.”
Basiru said Rivers State exemplified the APC’s commitment to people-centred governance, urging residents to consolidate the gains by voting for the party at all levels.
“When the governor performs well, it reflects positively on the party. The only way Rivers people can reciprocate is to continue voting for the APC,” he said, expressing confidence that the party would record “massive votes” in the state during future elections.
Speaking on the housing project, Basiru said, “You are not only providing accommodation for Permanent Secretaries, but also giving hope to those joining the public service that one day they, too, can have befitting accommodation.”
In his remarks, Governor Fubara said the housing initiative was aimed at boosting productivity and stability in the civil service.
“Providing decent accommodation for Permanent Secretaries will eliminate uncertainty that could affect their performance, especially for officers with family responsibilities,” he said.
The governor added that the project would be extended to other categories of civil servants and urged beneficiaries to protect the facility.
