The Inspector-General of Police, IGP Kayode Adeolu Egbetokun has charged the newly promoted senior officers of the police to justify their elevation through ethical, results driven leadership that strengthens professionalism, operational performance, and public trust.

Egbetokun said this on Tuesday after decorating the newly promoted senior officers at the Peacekeeping Hall, Force Headquarters, Abuja.

The IGP decorated one new Deputy Inspector-General of Police, seven new Assistant Inspectors-General of Police, and 13 ned Commissioners of Police at the event, CSP Benjamin Hundeyin, Force Public Relations Officer said in a statement.

The officers were among 1,210 officers whose promotions were approved following a rigorous and transparent process conducted by the Police Service Commission after.

Specifically, those decorated by Egbetokun were DIG Mohammed Usaini Gumel; AIGs Ihebom M. Chukwuma, Olatokunbo Maxwell Olabisi, Abaniwonda Surajudeen Olufemi, Lawal Babtunde Ayodeji, Emmanuel Agene, Alonyenu Francis Iduh, and Vungmoh S. M. Kwaimo; as well as CPs Johnson Ayodeji Babalola, Adepegba K. Adetoye, Tabitha Bako, Umar Ali Fagge, Audu Garba Bosso, Edwin Esiunnoh Ogbeghegha, Arikpo Ofem Ikpi, Cyril Uchenna Obiozo, Samuel Yerima Gimba, Alhaji Mohammed Danladi, Richard Bala Gara, Lasisi A. Titilola, and Obuagbaka C. John.

The ceremony was attended by the Governors of Delta and Jigawa States, Sheriff Francis Orohwedor Oborevwori and Mallam Umar A. Namadi, member of the House of Representatives representing Bida, Gboko and Katcha Constituencies, Hon. SMA Gworozo Nupe; former Deputy Governor of Edo State and Director-General, National Institute for Sports, Comrade Philip Shaibu; and the Speaker, Delta State House of Assembly, Emomotimi Dennis Guwor.

Members of the Force Management Team, serving and retired senior police officers, as well as families and well-wishers of the promotes, were also in attendance.

“The IGP described the promotion as a mark of institutional trust and confidence in leadership and readiness for higher responsibility. He commended the Police Service Commission for its diligence and transparency, acknowledged the sacrifices of officers’ families, and charged the newly promoted senior officers to justify their elevation through ethical, results driven leadership that strengthens professionalism, operational performance, and public trust.
