Seasoned producer Ayo Jaiyesimi is set to thrill Lagosians with her acclaimed play, ITAN the Story which will be on stage at MUSON Centre, Lagos on December 25 and 26. it will be staged at 7pm on Christmas Day, while there will be two shows, 3pm and 7pm, on the 26th.
The play features experienced actors such as iconic comic actor, Afeez Oyetoro (aka Saka); tested and trusted Nissi George, Victor Oyebode (Boy Alinco); Oluwakemi Aderibigbe; Femi Oyegbile; Lilian Aliu; Boye Oshuntuyi; Hepizihah Idakwo, among other established and rising talents. .
ITAN the Story, a play about generational clash, dexterously dramatises the intrigues that characterise the relationship between the old and the new in the delicate mission to move society forward. Elders want to push the tested principles, but the youth too want to have more than a say.
It is the search for this delicate balance that Jaiyesinmi processes into a most engaging and entertaining play which, she says, will offer the audience a memorable Christmas and Boxing Day.
According to Jaiyesimi, Itan, is a play that has something for everyone. Provoking a dialogue between the old and new generations, it invokes history and culture in a way that creates a conflict but eventually resolves it in favour of continuity and progress.
“At the heart of our work is a commitment to community and a passion for using the arts to drive positive change. We believe that storytelling has the power to inspire, educate, and empower individuals and communities to work towards a common goal.
“In the production of ITAN, we’re shining a spotlight on the pressing issue of multi-generational tensions that affect families, communities, and workplaces. We recognise that diversity is a strength, but it requires understanding, empathy, and effective management to unlock its full potential. By exploring the complexities of inter-generational relationships, we aim to spark meaningful conversations and foster greater understanding between young and old.
“Through the story of ITAN, we invite you to join us on a journey of discovery, where the wisdom of experience meets the energy of innovation. By embracing our differences and celebrating our unique strengths, we can create a synergy that drives positive change and empowers individuals to thrive. We believe that everyone has a role to play in shaping a brighter future, and we’re excited to share this powerful story with you,” the producer said in a statement
