A prince from Oyo, Prince Kolade Siyanbola Oladigbolu, has congratulated Governor Seyi Makinde of Oyo State on his birthday, commending his performance in office while urging him to maintain a strong and respectful relationship with the Alaafin of Oyo.

A prince from Oyo, Prince Kolade Siyanbola Oladigbolu, has congratulated Governor Seyi Makinde of Oyo State on his birthday, commending his performance in office while urging him to maintain a strong and respectful relationship with the Alaafin of Oyo.

In a goodwill message on Thursday, the prince said he was not known for praising public office holders without justification, stressing that commendation should only follow visible achievements.

“I am not a government praise-singer, nor am I seeking favours. However, as a realist, I believe leaders who perform well deserve to be acknowledged,” he said.

He highlighted improvements in infrastructure and security across the state under Governor Makinde’s administration, citing areas such as Ojoo, Oja-Oba, and key road networks including the Oyo–Iseyin and Moniya–Iseyin roads.

“Before this administration, Ojoo was notorious for refuse dumping, while Oja-Oba faced serious sanitation challenges. The Oyo–Iseyin axis was unsafe due to criminal activities. Today, these areas have witnessed significant improvements, and the introduction of modern motor parks has also raised standards,” he noted.

According to him, anyone who claims the governor has not made meaningful efforts in governance would be unfair in their assessment.

As the governor marks his birthday, the prince prayed for divine guidance, good health, and wisdom for continued leadership.

“I pray that God grants you longevity, sound health, and the wisdom to make decisions that will further advance the state,” he said.

However, he cautioned Governor Makinde against being drawn into political disputes capable of undermining traditional institutions, particularly the revered stool of the Alaafin of Oyo.

The prince warned that some political actors who lost relevance in the past might attempt to exploit such tensions for personal gain, recalling how similar conflicts strained relations between previous administrations and the late Alaafin.

“Your Excellency has great political potential. Do not allow others to use you as a ladder to regain lost relevance. Avoid any agenda that may weaken the traditional authority of the Alaafin. Learn from history and beware of those who instigate crises and walk away,” he advised.

He concluded by wishing Governor Makinde a happy birthday and continued success in office.
