Morocco 2025: Why Iwobi, Chukwueze were key to Nigeria’s win over Tanzania — Aiyegbeni

Former Super Eagles striker, Yakubu Aiyegbeni, has praised two Nigerian players for their outstanding performances in the Super Eagles’ victory over Tanzania in the 1xBet AFCON 2025 match.

Aiyegbeni singled out Alex Iwobi and Samuel Chukwueze, saying both players showed quality, confidence, and commitment throughout the match, helping Nigeria secure an important win in their AFCON campaign.

Iwobi was particularly impressive in midfield, where he dictated the pace of the game and linked up well with the attackers.

The Fulham midfielder also provided the assist for Semi Ajayi’s opening goal, delivering a well-timed ball that led to the breakthrough.

He remained energetic and composed from start to finish, playing the full 90 minutes and standing out as one of Nigeria’s most influential players on the night.

Chukwueze also delivered a strong performance, using his pace and dribbling ability to trouble the Tanzanian defence.

The winger came close to scoring just before halftime and was a constant attacking threat whenever Nigeria moved forward. He continued to push the opposition back until he was replaced by Moses Simon in the 59th minute.

Speaking to newsmen in Fez, Morocco, Aiyegbeni praised the creativity and attacking intent of both players, while also pointing out the need for more creativity in midfield going forward.

“You have Chukwueze and Alex Iwobi, and so far so good. They tried to create chances and did create opportunities for Osimhen.

He was just unlucky today, but we still need creativity in midfield,” Aiyegbeni said.

Iwobi remains the most capped player in the current Super Eagles squad, with 92 appearances and 10 goals for Nigeria, highlighting his experience and importance to the team.

Chukwueze, on his part, has now made 52 appearances for the national team and scored seven goals, continuing to grow as one of Nigeria’s key attacking players.

The Super Eagles’ win over Tanzania has boosted confidence within the squad as they continue their quest for success at the AFCON 2025 tournament.
