President Tinubu’s decision to set up the committee follows his renewed call for cohesion within the APC at the party’s 15th National Executive Committee meeting held on December 19 at the State House Conference Centre, Abuja.

President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has inaugurated a high-powered Committee on Strategy, Conflict Resolution and Mobilisation as the ruling All Progressives Congress intensifies internal reconciliation efforts ahead of the 2027 general elections.

The committee was inaugurated on Wednesday in Lagos and is tasked with addressing lingering disputes within the party, strengthening internal cohesion and developing strategies to sustain the APC’s political dominance as the next electoral cycle approaches.

The body is chaired by Mai Mala Buni, with former APC National Legal Adviser Muiz Banire serving as Member/Secretary.

Its membership cuts across key power blocs within the party, including serving governors, ministers, and senior party stakeholders.

Other members include Senator Adamu Aliero; Chairman of the Nigeria Governors’ Forum and Kwara State Governor Abdulrahman AbdulRazaq; Chairman of the Progressive Governors’ Forum and Imo State Governor Hope Uzodimma; as well as Governors Hyacinth Alia, Umar Namadi, Bassey Otu, Abiodun Oyebanji and Sheriff Oborevwori.

Also on the committee are Kaduna State Governor Uba Sani, Rivers State Governor Siminalayi Fubara, Minister of Marine and Blue Economy Adegboyega Oyetola, Minister of State for Defence Bello Matawalle, and former Kogi State Governor Yahaya Bello.

Speaking at the inauguration, Buni expressed appreciation to the President and party leadership for the confidence reposed in the committee, assuring that members would discharge their responsibilities with diligence and fairness.

“The committee will engage in strategic consultations to develop an all-encompassing, productive and result-oriented strategy that will stand the test of time,” Buni said.

“We shall implement a system that gives everyone, especially aggrieved parties, a sense of belonging and inclusion, with renewed hope.”

He added that the panel would also adopt proactive approaches to conflict resolution, warning members against allowing personal interests to undermine the collective objective of party unity.

President Tinubu’s decision to set up the committee follows his renewed call for cohesion within the APC at the party’s 15th National Executive Committee meeting held on December 19 at the State House Conference Centre, Abuja.

At the meeting, the President reminded party leaders that the APC was founded on progressive ideals, inclusiveness and respect for diverse opinions.

“We must continue to be resolute that this democracy that we take in our hands must not fail,” Tinubu had said. “We must be accommodating. That is the only way we can be resilient; we must be tolerant.”

The inauguration of the committee signals a strategic move by the APC leadership to address internal fractures early, consolidate party structures nationwide and present a united front ahead of the 2027 polls.
