Quick Read

Former Super Eagles captain and coach, Sunday Oliseh, has dismissed claims on social media suggesting that his analysis of Nigeria’s performance against Tanzania was driven by a lack of support for the national team.

In a statement on Wednesday, Oliseh said his comments were made in the spirit of professionalism and constructive criticism, stressing that honest analysis should not be mistaken for hostility.

According to him, he has devoted nearly four decades of his life to the development of Nigerian football and remains fully committed to the success of the Super Eagles.

“While my professional duty requires impartial and objective critique, my heart remains firmly with the players and Coach Eric Chelle,” Oliseh said.

He explained that constructive honesty is essential for growth and improvement, adding that his loyalty to the Green and White is not in doubt.

Oliseh also noted the irony of the situation, recalling that he was recently criticised for being overly supportive of the coaching crew, only to now be accused of the opposite.

“My loyalty to the Green and White is unwavering and requires no defence,” he added.

The former midfielder urged Nigerians to ignore distractions and unite behind the players as the team continues its 1XBET AFCON campaign.

“Let us move past these distractions and unite in our support for the players. God bless Nigeria,” Oliseh stated.
