Minister of the Federal Capital Territory, Nyesom Wike, has described himself as Nigeria’s most abused politician after President Bola Tinubu, reflecting on the challenges, criticism, and political pressures he has faced.

The former Rivers State Governor made the revelation on Saturday during a thanksgiving service organized by the South-South Development Commission’s Chibudom Nwuche and family in his hometown, Ochiba community, Ahoada East Local Government Area.

Speaking to his supporters, Wike expressed gratitude to residents of Ahoada East and Ahoada West Local Government Areas for their unwavering support, particularly during the 2023 elections, when he and his team stood firmly behind Tinubu’s mandate despite difficult circumstances.

“You know me, I believe in keeping agreements. If you cannot honour a commitment, do not make it. Nigerians know my position. After Bola Tinubu, the next most abused politician is me,” Wike said, acknowledging the scrutiny and attacks he has endured from critics and political rivals.

He pointed out that some local politicians only now claim to support Tinubu, long after pivotal moments had passed, contrasting them with loyal foot soldiers who remained steadfast during challenging times.

Wike also alluded to how certain political actors manipulate situations for personal gain, noting the irony and cynicism that sometimes accompany political loyalty in Nigeria.

Looking ahead, Wike announced that political activities in Rivers State would officially commence from January 2026. He reaffirmed his unwavering support for President Tinubu and emphasized the importance of honouring commitments, standing by agreements, and prioritizing the welfare of the people above political maneuvering.
