The Pentecostal Fellowship of Nigeria (PFN) has commended the United States for its recent airstrikes against Islamic State militants in North-West Nigeria, describing the intervention as a significant support in Nigeria’s fight against terrorism.
PFN President, Bishop Wale Oke, spoke on Sunday in Ibadan, Oyo State, urging President Bola Tinubu to sustain pressure on bandits and terrorists. “We commend the United States for cooperating with Nigeria to flush out these criminals. This is not a surrender of our sovereignty; it is a partnership to secure our nation,” he said.
Highlighting insecurity as Nigeria’s most urgent challenge, Bishop Oke called on the government to act decisively, warning that leniency could be costly. “Don’t relent until Nigeria is fully secured. Spare no one. Allow no sacred cows. If you don’t bring insecurity down, it will bring this country down,” he said.
The PFN leader also dismissed the idea of “repentant terrorists,” emphasizing that governance is about justice and security. “If they claim repentance, that is between them and their God. The duty of government is to protect Nigerians and enforce the law,” he added.
Bishop Oke called on Nigerians to unite against all forms of violence, insisting that every perpetrator must face justice, regardless of religion. He also commended Tinubu’s cooperation with international partners, describing it as a strategic measure to curb insecurity.
He expressed optimism that with decisive leadership and collective resolve, Nigeria could overcome banditry and terrorism, restoring peace and stability to the country.
