Tragedy: Lagos accident leaves one child dead, four hospitalised

The Lagos State Fire and Rescue Service has rescued four children and two adults in two separate incidents that occurred in different parts of the state on Saturday, December 28, 2025.
The first incident involved a Lexus RX 300 Jeep (registration GGE 750BM) that reportedly lost control while allegedly over-speeding at No. 1, Wole Olateju Crescent, Kingshisha, Lekki Phase 1, off Admiralty Road, Eti-Osa Local Government Area.
Preliminary reports indicate that the vehicle ran into five male children aged between 8 and 13 years, who were at the gate of the address. Four of the children were rescued alive but sustained severe injuries and were conveyed to a hospital by sympathisers. One nine-year-old boy was suspected dead at the scene.

In a separate incident in Apapa, Ajegunle Fire Station received a distress call at approximately 16:47 hours regarding a broken-down fuel tanker opposite Eco Bank. Two adult males were trapped inside the tanker while carrying out repair work.
Fire service personnel promptly commenced rescue operations and successfully extricated the victims alive. Both men were handed over to medical responders and conveyed to a hospital for further treatment.
Margaret Adeseye, Controller General of the Lagos State Fire and Rescue Service, confirmed the incidents and commended the quick response of fire personnel, which she said helped save lives.
