Police confirm Anthony Joshua’s accident, reveal crucial details

The Ogun State Police Command has confirmed the involvement of world-renowned heavyweight boxer, Anthony Joshua, in a road traffic accident that occurred on Monday along the Lagos–Ibadan Expressway, resulting in the death of two passengers.
According to the police, the accident happened at about 11:00am at Makun, just before Danco Filling Station near the Sagamu Interchange, on the Ibadan-bound axis of the expressway.
In a statement issued by the Police Public Relations Officer, DSP Oluseyi B. Babaseyi, the command said Anthony Joshua was travelling in a Lexus SUV when the crash occurred under circumstances that are currently under investigation.
The police disclosed that Joshua, who was seated at the rear of the vehicle, sustained minor injuries and is receiving medical attention. “Tragically, two other passengers in the vehicle lost their lives at the scene of the accident,” the statement said.
The remains of the deceased have been deposited at the Livewell Hospital Morgue, Sagamu, while efforts are ongoing to notify their families.
The Ogun State Police Command expressed condolences to the families of the victims and assured the public that a thorough investigation has commenced to determine the cause of the crash. The command added that further details would be made available as investigations progress.
