Tyson Fury has paid a heartfelt tribute to the two close friends of his long-time rival Anthony Joshua, who were killed in a devastating car crash in Nigeria on Monday.
The “Gypsy King” took to Instagram to express his sorrow, reposting an image commemorating the deceased and writing: “This is so sad. May God give them a good bed in heaven.”
In additional stories, he added: “There is no tomorrow. Live, love, and give.”
The victims were identified as Joshua‘s strength and conditioning coach Sina Ghami and personal trainer Kevin “Latif” Ayodele (also known as “Latz”), both described as integral members of his team and close personal friends.
Joshua, 36, was a passenger in a black Lexus SUV that collided with a stationary truck on the Lagos-Ibadan Expressway near Sagamu in Ogun State around midday local time on December 29.
Preliminary reports from Nigeria’s Federal Road Safety Corps suggest excessive speed and an improper overtaking maneuver contributed to the crash.
The British-Nigerian boxer sustained injuries, initially reported as minor but with growing concerns about potential internal damage and remains in stable condition in a Lagos hospital for observation.
Videos from the scene showed Joshua appearing dazed and in pain as he was helped from the mangled wreckage.
Nigerian President Bola Ahmed Tinubu spoke directly with Joshua, offering condolences and confirming he is receiving the best care.
