Nollywood superstar Toyin Abraham has expressed profound gratitude to her fans in the United Kingdom following an overwhelming response to her latest film, ‘Oversabi Aunty,’ during its opening weekend in select Odeon Cinemas across the country.
In an emotional Instagram post that quickly garnered thousands of likes and supportive comments, Abraham wrote: “Hmmm hmmmm I honestly don’t know how to thank my UK family this love is beyond HUGE! Just 3 days of opening weekend in the UK and you all showed up massively. My voice is of the Lord, and you all keep covering my body with your love and support. Eshey Modupe 🙏.”
The actress, who directed, produced, and stars in the comedy-drama, urged those who haven’t seen it yet to catch it while it’s still screening, adding: “Oversabi Aunty is still showing in selected Odeon Cinemas across the UK. If you haven’t seen it yet, now is the time! #OversabiAunty #UKBoxOffice.”
Released in Nigerian cinemas on December 19, 2025, Oversabi Aunty has already proven a domestic blockbuster, grossing over ₦382 million in just 11 days and securing the second-highest opening weekend of the year for Nollywood.
The film’s international rollout to the UK highlights the growing global appeal of Nigerian cinema, particularly among the diaspora community.
The story centres on Toun (played by Abraham), a devout church usher whose well-intentioned but overzealous efforts to “fix” everyone’s problems lead to hilarious chaos and heartfelt family revelations. The ensemble cast includes Mike Ezuruonye, Efe Irele, Enioluwa Adeoluwa, Queen Nwokoye, and Ngozi Ezeonu, blending sharp comedy with relatable cultural commentary on faith, family dynamics, and boundaries.
Fans flooded Abraham’s post with enthusiasm, replying with fire emojis, applause, and messages like “Yassssssssss 🔥🔥🔥” and “You did it sis👏.” The strong UK turnout underscores Abraham’s dedicated fanbase abroad, often referred to as her “UK family,” who have consistently supported her projects.
