Arsenal produced a ruthless second-half display to sweep aside Aston Villa 4–1 in their Premier League clash, underlining their title credentials with an emphatic statement performance.
After a cagey first half marked by missed chances at both ends, Arsenal broke the deadlock moments after the restart.
Bukayo Saka’s teasing corner caused chaos in the Villa box, allowing Gabriel Magalhães to bundle home from close range in the 48th minute. The goal, initially checked by VAR, was eventually allowed to stand, lifting the Emirates crowd.
The hosts tightened their grip four minutes later when Martin Zubimendi arrived unmarked in the area to calmly finish a precise pass from Martin Ødegaard, doubling Arsenal’s advantage and shifting the momentum decisively in their favour.

The rout was completed in the 78th minute when Gabriel Jesus marked his introduction from the bench in style, curling a fine strike into the bottom corner to make it 4–0 and effectively end the contest.
Aston Villa grabbed a late consolation through Ollie Watkins deep into stoppage time, but it did little to mask a chastening evening for Unai Emery’s side, who were repeatedly exposed by Arsenal’s pace, movement and precision in the final third.
