According to journalist Seun Oloketuyi, 47-year-old Kayode Adeniyi was driving the Lexus SUV in which Joshua and his companions were travelling along the Lagos-Ibadan Expressway near Makun, Ogun State, on December 29, 2025.
Adeniyi was reportedly interrogated and detained at the Eleweiran Police Station, where he gave his account of the events leading to the crash. He is facing a two-count charge of reckless driving and manslaughter.
PM News had earlier reported the arrest of the driver, which was confirmed by the Ogun State Police Command on Wednesday. DSP Oluseyi Babaseyi, the command’s Public Relations Officer, stated that investigations into the circumstances of the collision are ongoing.
The tragic accident claimed the lives of Latif “Latz” Ayodele, Joshua’s personal trainer, and Sina Ghami, his strength and conditioning coach, both in their mid-30s. Their bodies have since been flown out of Nigeria. Joshua and the other passengers survived, with the former world heavyweight champion sustaining minor injuries.
