The member representing Egor/Ikpoba-Okha federal constituency, Murphy Osaro Omoruyi, has accused the President Bola Tinubu-led government of failing to implement last year’s budget.
Omoruyi made the allegation on Tuesday, in Benin, January 6, 2026, while explaining why the African Democratic Congress (ADC), was formed.
He noted that the Coalition will remove the incumbent government in 2027, following Tinubu government’s failure to impact the life of the citizens positively.
He said: “You and I know the situation of the country right now, our constituents are crying out there. They are not happy because of insecurity. They are not happy because there is hunger in the land.
“They are not happy because our roads are not motorable. You can hardly travel from one point to the other. They are not happy for so many reasons. The current government has made life very difficult for our people.
“Can you believe that last year, 2025, no budget was executed in this country, Nigeria. The budget of 2025 was not touched at all.
“A government that fails to even implement a whole year budget, I mean zero, tell me, how do you expect the people to feel the impact of that authority?
“So, like minded Nigerians came to me and said no, we have to rescue Nigeria from the hands of this government. And that was the reason for the ADC coalition.”
Explaining why he earlier in the day pitched tent with the ADC, Omoruyi who was elected on the platform of the Labour Party in February 2023, cited “intractable crisis” in the LP as reason for dumping the party.
According to him, “Inspite of all efforts, the intractable crises rocking Labour Party has made my continued stay in the party, practically impossible.
“My joining the ADC coalition today, is sequel to my resignation from the Labour Party conveyed in a letter to my ward chairman, Ward 10, Egor Local Government Area on the 30th December, 2025 which has since been accepted.
“As I join the African Democratic Congress today, I pledge my full commitment to working with party leaders, coalition partners, and stakeholders to advance the cause of good governance and effective representation. Together, we will strengthen our democratic institutions and ensure that the voices of ordinary Nigerians are heard and respected.
“And me, as a representative of the people, I decided to pitch a tent with my people in Egor/Ikpoba Okha . Their cry is my cry. So I have pitched my tent with them,” he said.
He, however, assured his constituents of unwavering loyalty, adding: “your trust remains my guiding principle, and I assure you that this step is taken to better serve your interests and secure a brighter future for our constituency.”
