The Police Service Commission has affirmed that that recruitment into the Nigeria Police Force is absolutely free and that no applicant is required to pay any money at any stage of the application process.
PSC said this in a statement on Tuesday while reacting to information that some cyber cafés and recruitment agents were extorting N15,000 from applicants seeking to enlist into the Nigeria Police Force.
The cyber cafés and recruitment agents had allegedly claimed that they will share the money with the PSC.
However, the Commission strongly denied the claim as it affirmed that recruitment into the police is free for applicants.
According to the statement, no applicant is required to pay any money at any stage of the recruitment process.
PSC also advised applicants to avoid the use of agents for their application, but to apply directly on the police recruitment website.
It also asked prospective applicants to report all request for monetary inducement to the nearest police station or directly to it.
“Prospective applicants are therefore advised to avoid third-party handlers and personally submit their applications through the official portal: npfapplication.psc.gov.ng, to prevent falling victim to fraudsters.
“The Commission cautions that anyone caught extorting applicants under any guise will be prosecuted in accordance with the law. Victims and members of the public are urged to report such illegal demands to the nearest police station or directly to the PSC via 07054992071 (SMS/WhatsApp only).
